This is a pleasant natural colour Jade
Cabochon with a good polish and the stone is mounted across the finger, rather
as you would find in a Saddle Top Jade Ring. The Gold mount is plain and
unmarked and tests as 14ct Gold. My opinion is that the Ring was made in
Hong Kong circa 1950’s

indication of quality in 1960’s Jade Rings from the Far East) to a slender
unmarked White Gold shank, testing as 18ct Gold.

"...When I tell you that a Jade has an Orange Peel surface, it means that the stone has been polished with Corundum dust, that is to say powdered Sapphire or Ruby. You can easily see this Orange Peel surface using a hand lens. This usually means that it is an old Jade because since the 1960’s Jade has been polished with Diamond dust, giving it a greater luster and a smooth glass like finish. However, in the Far East all the old Jade is being re-polished so eventually we will not be able to tell the difference between old and new..."
