The ring on Oscar's finger looks interesting. Here are some more rings that Oscar would have liked, Oscar went to Heaven in 1900 AD
A
large and glowing Carnelian Intaglio,
engraved in the
Neo-Classical manner, with a resting naked warrior,
his hands clasped around his raised right knee and glancing over his left
shoulder. To his right is a small column upon which rest his helmet and
sword and to his front is his shield. This desirable stone is in a
fine late 19th century ring mount, unmarked and testing as 18 ct Gold.

Nearly
every Pietra Dura is inlayed into black slate, except for three
examples
that have been through my hands, two inlaid in Lapis Lazuli and one in
Malachite. This neo-classical Ring is a rare exception, being carved
and inlaid into an oval of grey and white Agate. The subject, I am told,
is an ancient Greek drinking chalice, called a Kylix and the cut down
open-back Georgian Gold ring mount, dates from around 1780-1800 but the
Pietra Dura may well be much earlier. A fine, handsome ring and one
that in all probability, the like of which may never appear again.

Item Number: OW 018
A 19th century Gold and Bloodstone Intaglio Ring by TIFFANY; of breathtaking quality and substance.
The
oval top is filled with a beautifully marked Bloodstone of strong red and
dark green contrasts and virtually the whole face of the stone is carved
with a coat of arms. The central shield contains three identical devices
which may represent three burning haystacks or huts and above them is a
quarter moon on its back. The shield is surrounded with trailing foliage and
hatch patterned drapes and on the top stands a spread-winged bird, which may
be a dove, and at the base is a scrolled motto, SEMPER PARATUS. The
Gold ring mount that holds this fine stone is substantial and beautifully
made and in the reverse of the head, one can see how thick and well shaped
is the stone, blending seamlessly with the Gold. This technique may be the
reason for the PATENT, which is stamped on the inner shank PAT’D APL.27.69
and further stamped Tiffany which is a slightly curving early style
signature.

'Qu'il Veille Sur Vous'
(The eye that watches over you)
An
early 19th Century Amethyst carved with a good representation of a lidded
eye with a radiating sunburst surround and the comforting reassurance in
French. Oscar would have loved this Ring; he was the all seeing eye at any
event he attended, as he was also the centre of all eyes. This attractively
coloured stone is set in a heavy 1920's period Ring mount, unmarked and
testing as 18 ct gold. Because the inscription is in French, it does not
mean that it is of French origin. In the court of Prinny (The Prince of
Wales, later King George IV), and others, French was used as an Elite
language particularly in matters of Love. The Eye that watches over you has
several interpretations. It could be either the Mother or the Father, it
could be the God of whatever faith you follow, it could be the 'Third Eye'
or it could be the Eye of your loved one that watches over you. Whatever
your interpretation, this is a fascinating and good looking Ring for either
sex. Amethyst

Item Number: OW 015
A fine late Georgian Amethyst Intaglio
Ring. The oval Amethyst carved with a rampant Lion holding a battle-axe with
both paws. The Gemstone has faceted edges and is set into a heavy Gold mount
with floral and embossed shoulders to an unmarked Gold shank, testing as 18ct
Gold. The family who sold the Ring tell me that it belonged to their
ancestor, Captain Herbert Cayley-Webster of The Royal Artillery in 1820. As
with many of the old Gem Rings, the stone is cut and set so that the culet, (the
pointed bit at the back) touches the skin of the wearer, so permitting the
healing and protective powers of the Gem to enter the body. I also believe in
this and I do not consider it a superstition. English circa 1820

The cut cornered rectangular Citrine crested with a kings crown and below, a shield engraved with four joined anchors, three swans, a spread winged bird with a long tail and a tower with a flag. In the center is a smaller shield containing two goats, one grazing. The motto around one half of the shield reads: 'DEL VEN SON LAS CIDO ARMAS' This may not be in the correct order, I have no idea of the origins of this finely crested 19th century Citrine intaglio, perhaps you do?
